Hey I want to come and jam, but first there are a bunch of hurdles for me. I need to learn how to play a banjo, I need to buy a banjo, and I need to drive to Indiana. So I guess I won't make it. Any pointers on buying a beginner's banjo? I was thinking Fender's FB54 for around $320.

There are several low cost banjos available. You generally get what you pay for as with most things.

I'd get something in the $250-500 range and once you learn to play, upgrade.

Try to find a jam or festival in your area. That is the best place to meet others and they can give you more advice on a banjo than you really want. :-)

Hi, I'm looking for a mandolin teacher in the fort wayne area ... any ideas? My 15-year-old is very anxious to get going with this instrument ... he's got it in his hands constantly and needs some inspiration and guidance.

Thanks!

Rick

Tri-State is just around the corner and the weather looks good. Mark your calendar, August 28-31. Don't miss it.
